Research Interests & Projects

My research uses wild animal systems to pioneer our understanding of how an individual’s genes, social behaviors, and ecology predict the composition of its gut microbiome, and how microbiome variation, in turn, affects host health. Further, the microbiome is temporally dynamic, and large gaps remain in our understanding of the forces that shape the microbiome over time. Wild animal systems can provide unique insights into filling these gaps.
